Frequently Asked Questions

How long will asphalt last?

Asphalt laid on a solid foundation will last 15-20 years with normal maintenance.

Most driveways are completed in one day.

Roads can be driven on as soon as asphalt is compacted but it is better if its cures 2-3 days before parking overnight on it.

Sealing is the process of applying a commercial-grade protective coating over the finished asphalt. The sealant seeps into minute holes in the asphalt, binds with the asphalt molecules, and protects it against weather and other destructive forces.

Sealing any paving surface is similar to “water proofing” a new wood deck or putting a protective rust inhibitor or polyethylene coating on outdoor furniture. In most instances, “sealing” is recommended following a period of curing for the asphalt. In some situations it can be applied immediately following compaction. Sealcoat will protect and beautify your driveway. It is purely an option you may choose.

Asphalt can be sealed with sealer after one year.

Structurally sound pavement can last indefinitely if it is sealed every 2-3 years.

Yes, if it still has a solid foundation, but if there are soft areas, we will need to dig out and replace those areas and then resurface.
